The Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church is the church of the Christ parish Hesepe-Sögeln-Rieste. Next to her there is a chapel (Emmauskapelle) in the municipality of Rieste, which is also part of the parish.

history

The Christ Church was built and consecrated in 1965 - three years earlier, the construction of the meeting house, which is now next to the church and in which the services initially took place, was completed. On December 6, 2015, the church celebrated its 50th anniversary with the participation of numerous regional personalities.

Architecture and equipment

The parish hall and church are parallel to each other, the bell tower is designed as a campanile and stands, with a view of the main entrance of the church, on a small open space on the right, is clad with a copper tent roof and has two steel bells with the striking tones c and d . Tower, church as well as the parish hall are made of concrete and - recognizable on the facade - mainly red clinker bricks . The top of the tower is covered with copper.

The interior of the church is simple, the walls are whitewashed. The church roof is supported by wooden supports that are visible inside. A stained glass window above the baptismal font shows "The Presence of Christ in Last Supper " as a motif. Another large two-part window on the back wall of the church, which is located above the organ , depicts Jesus' flight into Egypt ( Matthew 2:13  Lut ). Below the organ gallery you can also see the blessing Christ. In the chancel there is a large wooden cross with a crown of thorns carved into it.

organ

The organ comes from the Kreienbrink workshop. It is an instrument that is often built in this form and that does not fit directly into the architecture of the church, but rather stands as a block of furniture on the gallery. The disposition includes in the main work Gedackt 8 ', Principal 4', Mixtur; in the secondary work (on the same drawer) Stillgedackt 8 ', Rohrflöte 4', Principal 2 'and Sesquialtera; in the pedal Subbass 16 'and Pommer 4'.
