The Evangelical Christ Church is in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) in the Gladbach district , Kapuzinerstraße 46.

The building was built in 1845-1852. It was entered in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach on December 4, 1984 under No. K 017 .

architecture

The Christ Church, built from 1845 to 1852, has a three-aisled hall structure with a gable roof and five window axes with neo - Gothic, rectangular windows. To the north, the bell tower with a polygonal pointed roof and four corner towers with natural stone parapets are free-standing . The tower is connected to the nave by a canopy with a pointed arched gate for pedestrians. To the west of the church gable there is a more recent extension in neo-Gothic forms with a central main entrance and two side entrances. The small sacristy is built on to the south-east of the nave and apse .

The church was in the Second World War due to fire damage in its neo-Gothic equipment destroyed and reconstructed in the most economical ways of the postwar period until the 1,951th However, the entire exterior is in its original condition, with the exception of the roof , which was originally covered in slate , and the colored glass windows in the choir, which were created in 1962 by Johannes Schreiter .
