The Christ Church is a church building of the Protestant Church in Rotenbühler Weg 64 in Saarbrücken 's Rotenbühl district . It is a listed monument as a single monument.

history

The church was built between 1955 and 1958 according to plans by Rudolf Krüger and consecrated on April 19, 1959. The area became vacant after the demolition of the Rotenbühl country house , which had served as a convalescent home from 1916 and later as a children's home.

architecture

The church is constructed as an octagonal central building with a tent roof . Four of the eight walls were replaced by wall-high glass windows. To the west is a single-storey angled building with parish and community rooms and a day-care center. In the northwest, the white concrete church tower stands as a solitaire .

Furnishing

The altar was created by Albert Schilling from Basel . The glass windows come from the Heidelberg artist Harry MacLean .

organ

Today's organ was built in 1977 by the Muhleisen company from Strasbourg and inaugurated on October 16, 1977. The draft of the prospectus comes from the organist at the time, church music director Friedrich Schäfer. The disposition is as follows:
