Chrysoclista is a genus of butterflies fromthe grass leaf miner family (Elchistidae).

features

The head is smoothly scaled . The antennae are 4/5 as long or slightly shorter than the fore wing length. Occasionally they are slightly serrated distally . The labial palps are cylindrical and elongated, the third segment is angled slightly upwards. The forewings are lanceolate and have an orange base color. A few tubercles with metallic shimmering scales and spots with protruding scales are often present. The hind wings are two-thirds as long as the fore wings. They are lanceolate and usually taper to a point.

The uncus is missing in the males . The gnathos arms are sclerotized and often dentate. The tegumen is short and wide and has small socii. The valves are wide and have a rounded or truncated apex. The anellus lobes are large and about half the length of the aedeagus . The latter is long, tubular and curved in the middle. He has no cornuti.

In females, the apophyses posteriores are one and a half to twice as long as the apophyses anteriores. The sclerotization of the eighth tergite is important for species identification. The antrum is quite small and it can be sclerotized. The ductus bursae is long and narrow. The corpus bursae is elongated and can be provided with a sign.

The species of the genus Chrysoclista are widespread in the Holarctic , some species have only very small distribution areas.

biology

The caterpillars live under the bark of linden ( Tilia ) and willow ( Salix ).
