Cimatti was an Italian bicycle and motorcycle manufacturer .
The company was founded in Bologna in 1937 by racing cyclist and Olympian Marco Cimatti and initially produced bicycles . In 1950 came two stroke - mopeds and - mopeds added, then later followed lightweight motorcycles .
Between 1966 and 1968, Cimatti machines won the Italian 50cc Trial Championships three times in a row . As one of the very few Italian motorcycle manufacturers, the company survived the global economic downturn among manufacturers of small brands in the 1960s . In the 1970s and 1980s , the company produced numerous motorized model series, including the “City Bike” and the somewhat larger “Town Bike” . Two-stroke engines from Moto Morini and Moto Minarelli were used .
Under the later management of Enrico Cimatti , the son of the company founder, the company, now known as Ditta Cimatti en Cimatti Enrico SpA , also supplied the market in the USA , France , Norway and Tunisia .
After an economic downturn in the early 1980s, the company had to close in 1984.
