Cinzia Th. Torrini (born September 5, 1954 in Florence ) is an Italian director and screenwriter .

biography

At the age of fourteen, Cinzia Torrini discovered a love of photography , to which she devoted a lot of time. In 1973 she completed her school education in Florence and studied literature and philosophy from 1974 to 1976 at the university in her hometown. After a short stopover in a studio that specializes in design photography, she worked as a photo reporter for a motorcycle magazine. She also took part in some exhibitions with her photographs .

In the period from 1976 to 1981 she completed further studies at the University of Television and Film Munich and shot her first documentary for Bavarian TV in 1977, entitled “Sooner or later” about the story of the last ferryman on the Arno before the building a bridge. After she obtained her diploma and made a few other short and documentary films, she made her feature film debut with “Lotto in Italian” . The film was presented at the Venice Film Festival in 1982 . In 1986 "Hotel Colonial" followed, which was produced together with the USA.

Torrini then worked for Italian television for which she directed a long series of documentaries, television films and mini-series. In 1995 she directed the episode "Zuckerschnute" in the series "Erotic Tales", for which she also wrote the script. The episode receives international awards. Her work for cinema and television spans a variety of genres such as thriller, crime, comedy, mystery, and more. Many films were made in European co-production.

She was best known for films that had a strong social claim, such as B. "Dangerous Seduction" and "Iqbal". The telenovela "Elisa di Rivombrosa", a conflict-ridden love story set in the 18th century and one of the greatest successes of Italian television in recent years, achieved its greatest media success to date .
