Cipocereus laniflorus is a species of the genus Cipocereus in the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Cipocereus laniflorus grows as a shrub with columnar, olive-green shoots branching from the base , which are often bluish at the beginning. There are 5 to 7 triangular ribs . Long white hairs emerge from the light brown to black areoles . The areoles flow together over time and form a continuous band on the ribs. The dark brown thorns are translucent. The 7 to 9 central spines are protruding and 1.5 to 3 inches long. The 10 to 14 radial spines lie on the shoots and have a length of up to 1 centimeter.

The white to light creamy yellow, woolly and thorny flowers are up to 7 centimeters long. The egg-shaped, ribbed, more or less purple-blue fruits are also covered with wool and thorns.

Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Cipocereus laniflorus is distributed in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais ( Serra do Caraça ). It was first described in 1997 by Nigel Paul Taylor (* 1956) and Daniela Cristina Zappi (* 1965).

Cipocereus laniflorus is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. endangered, classified.
