The Cirque Fjord ( Norwegian Botnfjorden , translated Kesselfjord ) is an icy fjord on the coast of the East Antarctic Kemplands . It is located on the south side of Law Promontory and opens to Stefansson Bay .
Norwegian cartographers, who also made the descriptive first name, mapped the fjord using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . Participants of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions sighted the bay in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia converted the Norwegian name into English on February 18, 1958.
