Cirque Du Soleil Paramour is the first musical by Cirque du Soleil to combine musical elements with artistry . The premiere of the musical premiered on May 25, 2016 on Broadway . The European premiere took place in April 2019 in Hamburg .

The musical takes place during the “golden era” of Hollywood : the ambitious and charismatic director AJ Golden is looking for a new talent for his next hit movie. He finds this in the beautiful and ambitious actress Indigo. He falls in love with her. But Indigo has feelings not only for AJ, but also for the young pianist Joey, who is writing the theme song for the film. So Indigo has to choose between love and success in the course of the musical.

Paramour's preview shows began on April 16, 2016 at the Lyric Theater on Broadway . The official premiere took place on May 25, 2016. The main role of Indigo was played by Ruby Lewis . Paramour got off to a good start in the pre-premieres, grossing over $ 1 million in the first six shows. The show was directed by French director and choreographer Philippe Decouflé, who was also the director of the Cirque du Soleil show Iris .

Dernière was April 16, 2017 after 31 previews and 366 performances. Despite average box office sales, Cirque reportedly paid $ 23 million to terminate its contract early to clear the theater and allow the necessary renovations for its sequel, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child .

On July 14, 2019, Aleardi left the musical to devote himself to his television career. He was succeeded by Gian Marco Schiaretti , who played the role from July 2019 to January 2020. From January to March 2020, the role of AJ Golden was taken over by Tobias Licht . In May 2019 it was announced that van den Bosch is also leaving the musical and that her role will be taken over by Ann Sophie . From November 2019 Judith Caspari took on the cover roles of Indigo and Gina .

The musical was originally planned to be performed until September 13, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic , gaming operations were suspended on March 12, 2020. As Stage Entertainment announced at the end of July 2020, the musical will not return to Neue Flora after the Corona crisis.
