Cisco Meraki LLC is a cloud-managed IT provider founded in 2006 as a start-up company with headquarters in San Francisco and since 2012 a subsidiary of the world's largest network equipment provider Cisco Systems . The company develops and sells mesh network software and operates a cloud- based MDM ( Mobile Device Management ) platform .

history

After the students Sanjit Biswas, John Bicket and Hans Robertson developed the Roofnet project at the computer science laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , they founded the startup Meraki in 2006 . The first investors were Google and Sequoia Capital .

2012 was Meraki for 1.2 billion US dollars acquired by Cisco Systems. In a letter to employees in November 2012, the CEO Biswas wrote that Meraki had received orders worth 100 million dollars last year and had grown from 120 to 330 employees.

According to the company's own information, the 2015 financial year ended with an order volume of USD 1.0 billion.
