Cistugo is a genus of bat with two species that are found in Africa . The taxon was listed in older works as a subgenus of the mouse ears ( Myotis ) in the family of smooth noses (Vespertilionidae). Newer treatises such as Mammal Species of the World and the World Conservation Union recognize Cistugo as a genus. A 2010 study found conspicuous genetic deviations between Cistugo and Myotis . The authors placed the genus in its own family Cistugidae, which is accepted by both the Mammal Diversity Database of the American Society of Mammalogists and the IUCN Red List.

The following species belong to the genus.

These bats reach a head-trunk length of 40 to 55 mm, a forearm length of 32 to 38 mm and a weight of 5.5 to 8 g. On each wing there are one or two glands that are formed as nodules. With regard to the dentition, the genera Cistugo and Mouse Ears are identical.

The species feed on insects that are caught in flight with the help of the flight skin or that are picked up by plants.
