The street was named in 1893 after the Cologne- born architect Jakob Ignaz Hittorff (1792–1867), as was the street of the same name ( Rue Hittdorf ) next door .

history

The road with a width of 4.5 meters and a length of 66 meters is around the left side of the Hôtel Gouthière and on the right side of residential buildings, some 2,011 construction is finished, the social housing is limited.

Hittorff was also involved in the construction of the St-Vincent-de-Paul church and the Gare du Nord train station in the same arrondissement . In order to name this small street after the architect who was important for Paris in the 19th century - the street is incorrectly spelled with an F only - the Cité de Magenta was shortened and the further course of the street was called Rue Hittorf .
