CitizenGO is a right-wing conservative registered foundation , founded by HazteOir in September 2013 in Madrid, Spain .

In particular, the foundation organizes worldwide petitions , for example in defense of Christian values , the rejection of same-sex marriages , abortion and euthanasia .

history

CitizenGO was founded by HazteOir to expand its reach beyond the Spanish-speaking area. The main aim is to promote the use of online petitions as a form of internet activism in order to increase public participation in the democratic process. CitizenGo states that they have "members located in fifteen cities on three continents," making it easy for users to sign petitions in 50 countries, in 8 languages ​​with plans to add more. CitizenGO's CEO is Álvaro Zulueta . The CitizenGO Foundation Board of Trustees consists of Ignacio Arsuaga (Founder and President), Walter Hintz, Blanca Escobar, Luca Volonte ( UDC politician), Brian S. Brown (President of the National Organization for Marriage ), Gualberto García, Alexey Komov, Alejandro Bermudez and John-Henry West.

CitizenGO is financed exclusively through donations.

Abortion and euthanasia

CitizenGO supports campaigns against abortion and euthanasia. CitizenGo opposed the introduction of the " Estrela Report " in the European Parliament , which was approved by the member states and others. a. Requested certain sex education in schools and (safe) abortions.

In May 2019 CitizenGo supported a petition of "Right to Life", the Netflix calling on the financing of a legal challenge to the controversial bill heartbeat in Georgia to stop. As a sign of protest, calls were made to cancel Netflix memberships or contributions.

Second Coming comic series

In February 2019, CitizenGo organized a petition calling on DC Vertigo to cancel Mark Russell and Richard Pace's "Second Coming" comic series that was a blasphemous portrayal of Jesus Christ . Russell then confirms that it was his decision to request the return of the rights to the series.

2019 Disneyland "Magical Parade"

At the end of May 2018, CitizenGo circulated a petition asking Disneyland Paris to cancel a planned LGBT parade called the "Magical Parade" on June 1, 2019. The Walt Disney Company refused the petition and the Magical Parade took place in Paris.
