Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica is an underground station on the Barcelona Metro . It is located in the Sant Martí district . The station is served by the L4 metro line. You can change to five bus lines and the Trambesòs tram line T4 at the above-ground stop. It is named after the Parc de la Ciutadella and the former Olympic Village (Vila Olímpica).

history

The station went into operation with the name Ribera on October 7, 1977 during the opening of the eastern extension of line 4. This was at the time of the station Barceloneta way to Selva de Mar prolonged. The working title was Zoo . In 1982 the station was renamed Ciutadella .

The underground station was closed from July 29, 1991 for renovation work in the run-up to the Summer Olympics . The access was relocated, the decorations were put in again and a concrete ceiling was installed on which the butt tracks of the nearby Barcelona-França train station are located. On April 10, 1992 the station was named Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica reopened, the official renaming took place two weeks later on St. George's Day , April 23, 1992.
