Brar Riewerts

Brar Volkert Riewerts (born September 30, 1914 in Lindholm ; † April 8, 2002 in Mildstedt ) was a German educator , archivist and politician ( Greens ).

The rector of a Husum secondary school came from a North Frisian pastor family originally based on the island of Föhr . One of his ancestors was the Neumünster Propst Brar Volkert Riewerts (1842–1933) of the same name . In addition to his post as rector, he was an honorary city archivist (archivist) in Husum from 1955 to 1988. He was party chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Green List (GLSH), city councilor in Husum and district council member in North Friesland . After the difficult merger negotiations between the State Association of the Greens and the GLSH in 1982, Riewerts gradually withdrew from politics.

For his services to the promotion of North Frisian culture, Riewerts was awarded the Hans Momsen Prize of the North Frisian District in 1997 .
