plant

Claas Gutsche's work includes graphics and sculptures. His sculptures are bronze casts of natural materials such as ears of corn, bird nests or certain flowers.

Gutsche's large-format linocuts, on the other hand, are mostly black and white and have a strong light and shadow dramaturgy. With their dark atmosphere they tie in with the classic genre of the night piece , but also represent a new interpretation or further development of the technique of linocut . They show motifs such as watchtowers, fences, housing developments, architectural details or monuments. Initially looking familiar, they only cause irritation at second glance or after researching the motif. For example, the Krumme Lanke housing estate in Berlin-Zehlendorf is part of a former Nazi colony, the half-timbered house in Wuestefeld is connected to Armin Meiwes, known as the "cannibal of Rotenburg", and the "Monument" turns out to be a memorial to the war cemetery in Halbe , where the victims of the last great battles of World War II are buried.
