Claire Lecat

Claire Lecat (born July 6, 1965 in Boulogne-sur-Mer ) is a French judoka . In 1989 she was third in the middleweight championship in the weight class up to 66 kilograms.

Athletic career

The 1.74 m tall Claire Lecat won the Tournoi de Paris and the French championships in 1988 . In 1989 she won the French championships again and took third place at the Tournoi de Paris. At the European Championships in Helsinki she was defeated in the quarterfinals by the Italian Emanuela Pierantozzi . With two wins in the round of hope, she reached the battle for bronze, which she won against the Dutch Chantal Han . Five months later she lost to the Japanese Hikari Sasaki in the quarter-finals of the World Championships in Belgrade . As in the European Championships, she reached the fight for bronze via the round of hope, which she won again against Chantal Han. In 1990 Claire Lecat won the Tournoi de Paris for the second time. At the European Championships in Frankfurt am Main she was defeated by the German Alexandra Schreiber , she won the battle for bronze against Jelena Kotelnikowa from the Soviet Union.

In 1992 she took second place at the Tournoi de Paris behind the South Korean Cho Min-sun . At the Olympic premiere of women's judo in Barcelona in 1992, Lecat was defeated in the quarterfinals by Emanuela Pierantozzi. After victories over Chantal Han and the Argentinian Laura Martinel , Lecat lost the battle for bronze against the British Kate Howey and finished fifth. In 1993, Claire Lecat was once again second in the French championships behind Alice Dubois .
