Clancy Eccles (born December 9, 1940 in Dean Pen , St. Mary , Jamaica , † June 30, 2005 in Spanish Town near Kingston , Jamaica) was a Jamaican reggae and ska musician and producer.

Life

In 1959, Clancy Eccles moved to Kingston. There he got a record deal with Coxsone Dodd at a talent show . His first single Freedom was released in 1961, and he became known in the same year with River Jordan .

Since Eccles earned little with his music, he interrupted his music career and moved to Annotto Bay in 1965 to work as a tailor there. In late 1966 he returned to the music business and produced his own single Darling Don't Do That / Guns Town .

The song Say What You're Saying and Fatty Fatty , recorded with Eric Morris in 1968 , were his greatest successes alongside the earlier recorded Freedom and River Jordan .

In 1971, Eccles and some reggae musicians supported the PNP politician Michael Manley in the election of Prime Minister. Because of this success, Eccles appeared repeatedly to support the People's National Party until 1980.

Eccles has produced for Jamaican musicians such as Joe Higgs , Busty Brown, and Larry Marshall .

Eccles died on June 30, 2005 of complications from a stroke.
