The Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium (CSG) in Lahr / Black Forest is a state- sponsored gymnasium instead of municipal ( see also : School system in Germany ). A boarding school is connected. It is located in a listed building.

History of the building

In over 100 years since the building was constructed, it has had an eventful history. The building was built in the period from 1910 to 1912 as a Grand Ducal teachers 'seminar and then served until 1923 as the "Baden teachers' seminar". After that, until 1929 it was a four-level advanced secondary school for boys and later a structural upper secondary school, where the Abitur could also be taken. In 1937 it was renamed “Boelke School”, a high school for boys. During the Second World War , from 1942 onwards, the building was used as a pure teaching institution for boys and in 1944 as a teaching institution for girls. After the end of the war it was an upper secondary school for a year. From 1946 it served as a "pedagogy", a training institution for boys and girls, before it was renamed again just two years later. Until 1951 it was the "Max-Planck-Gymnasium Lahr". Now it served until 1994 as Aufbaugymnasium in 6-year-old form before it was renamed to the still existing name Clara Schumann-Gymnasium Lahr then 1994th In 1997 the school started a fifth grade for the first time and was one of the first grammar schools in Germany with an eight-year grammar school train. Since the 2013/14 school year, the building has also been expanded with an extension that is not connected to the main building.

The high school today

Today the school is a general high school with an eight-year high school train (G8), a seven-year advanced train from grade 7, a three-year advanced train (after the intermediate educational qualifications) and a boarding school with a total of around 450 students. The boarding school has 45 places. The school has a music and natural science profile.
