Clara Tabody

Clara Tabody (born January 12, 1915 in Rákospalota , Austria-Hungary as Klara Thurmayer ; † August 6, 1986 in Milan , Italy ) was an actress and singer . Ida Turay (1908–1997, nee Ida Thurmayer ) was her sister.

Life

Clara Tabody completed her training as a dancer and then attended the Drama Academy in Budapest . She had her first successes at the Budapest Kiraly Theater in the operetta Kadettenliebe , but her real career began in Berlin in the 1930s. From 1932 she played in operettas and revues, including Fred Raymond's Mask in Blue .

With the role of Gitta, she also achieved her breakthrough in 1942 alongside Wolf Albach-Retty and Hans Moser in the film version of Fred Raymond's successful operetta .

During the war she married the Italian Angelo Formenti, with whom she moved to Alassio on the Italian Riviera . In the 1950s she occasionally returned to the Berlin theaters.
