Location of Clarenbach in Remscheid |
Clarenbach is a town in the north of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Remscheid . It is located in the west of the Lüttringhausen district on the border with the Alt-Remscheid district ( Haddenbach district ) and the Ronsdorf district of Wuppertal .
history
The first documented water use in the Clarenbach dates back to 1475. The village of Clarenbach is mentioned in 1495 as Clarenbeck, then in 1564 as Clarenbech, 1597 as Clarenbach and from 1683 in the current version Klarenbach.
Geography, traffic and infrastructure
At Clarenbach the Leyerbach flows into the Morsbach , which in large parts forms the border line to the neighboring district of Haddenbach. The village lies at the intersection of the roads to Remscheid, Hasten , Solingen , Ronsdorf and Lüttringhausen.
Originally there was a post office on Ronsdorfer Strasse, but this was replaced by a private post office due to rationalization measures. Today there is still a bakery for local supplies.
On August 21, 1891, it was connected to the Ronsdorf-Müngstener railway from the direction of Ronsdorf . The 9.2 km connection to Müngsten came on November 16 of the same year. The route was used for passenger and freight traffic. At the beginning of Morsbachtalstraße was the "Güterstelle Klarenbach", where transport goods could be picked up and posted. A tram line ran from Ronsdorf through the Clarenbach to "Schönen Aussicht". Today city bus routes serve all neighboring towns from Clarenbach . The hydropower of the streams was from the late Middle Ages by grinding cottas and water hammers used for metal processing. There are still metal processing companies in Clarenbach today.
An old, well-kept slate house (formerly "manor house") on the slope is the oldest building in the Clarenbach. Also worth seeing is the office building of the Grimm steelworks, which was built in the Bergisch Baroque style.
