Haddenbach is a district of Remscheid , in the district of Alt-Remscheid and in the north of the city. The size is 145 hectares. Haddenbach has (2006) 3749 inhabitants. Diepmannsbach and Leyerbach unite here to form the Morsbach .

Called “Horrenbeck” in dialect, the name is likely to be derived from “hor” = mud, swamp or mud, which suggests a swampy or muddy stream. It was first mentioned in a document as "Hoddinbegge" in 1217 and as "Hoddenbecke" in 1312 .

The names "Homcke" and "Hormeckebech" have also been part of it over the centuries.

In 2015 the houses at Raspelweg No. 2 and 4 are under monument protection. A number of industrial companies - mainly from the iron processing industry - have been based here for centuries because the hammer mills once settled here in the valley by the water-rich streams . In 1692 there were two hammers there. Steel works, nitriding plants, manufacturers of tools and precision equipment as well as a printing shop are among the companies operated in Haddenbach (2015). There is also a post office , a bakery and craft shops. Due to the high volume of goods, Haddenbach was once connected to the national rail network with the Ronsdorf-Müngstener Railway . In the Haddenbach there was a stop with a goods acceptance office.

In 1908 local football fans founded the Ballspielverein 08 Haddenbach here, whose home ground "Düppeler Schanze" was on Düppelstraße. The name was reminiscent of a battlefield in Schleswig called Düppeler Schanzen . Because of the decline in membership, the association was later merged into the neighboring associations.

The Haddenbach volunteer fire brigade , which had the fire station on Ronsdorfer Strasse, existed for decades . Together with the Goldenberger and Grunder fire brigades, she joined the volunteer fire brigade north, which got its station on Haddenbacher Strasse near the Nüdelshalbch.

An upper trench of the Morsbach served the Haddenbach youth as a swimming pond. After the Second World War , the Haddenbachers always held their own fair . There has also been the Haddenbacher Turnverein in the district since 1890 with its own sports facility as well as gymnastics and tennis hall.
