Location and description
The predominantly rural district is the southeasternmost district of Remscheid and includes the urban area east of the route of the disused railway line Wuppertal-Oberbarmen-Opladen ("Balkanexpress") in the village of Bergisch Born on the city limits of Wermelskirchen and Hückeswagen . In the west Bergisch Born Ost borders on the statistical district Bergisch Born West , in the north on the statistical district Engelsburg . The district has not grown historically, but as a statistical district even artificially divides the town of Bergisch Born along the railway line into a larger western and a smaller eastern part.
The district includes the courts and residential areas Bornbach , Bornefeld , Dörpe (Remscheider part), Kaltenborn , Karlsruhe , Langenbusch , Niederlangenbach , Oberlangenbach , Siepen , Sonnenschein and Tefental .
history
In the 19th and 20th centuries, the area of the district largely belonged to the Neuhückeswagen community and the town of Hückeswagen. Due to the Düsseldorf Act (§21), it was incorporated into Remscheid with effect from January 1, 1975.
