Mitte is a statistical district in the district of Alt-Remscheid of the city of Remscheid in Bergisches Land . It is located in the district of Alt-Remscheid and includes the actual city center of Remscheid from the city cone at the town hall and the Remscheid water tower to the market around the pedestrian zone Alleestraße with the exception of the actual settlement core of the medieval Remscheid Hofschaft, which today belongs to the old town district.
The boundaries of the district are defined by the streets (clockwise) Elberfelder Straße , Alte Rathausstraße , Ludwigstraße , Elberfelder Straße , Markt , Blumenstraße , Brüderstraße , the part of Alleestraße , Martin-Luther-Straße , Mattheystraße , Richtweg , Scheider that is not closed to road traffic Road and elevated road set.
Before the full-scale development, the settlements and residential areas of Wiedenhof, Preiershäuschen, Rödershäuschen and Grünenthal existed on the area of today's district in the 19th century, the settlement areas of which are partially divided with neighboring districts by today's demarcation.
