Vieringhausen is a district (No. 402) of the city of Remscheid in Bergisches Land . It is located in the southwest part of the city. The original town center is in the area of ​​today's Hof Vieringhausen street .

As a district, Vieringhausen belongs administratively to the district of Alt-Remscheid . The districts of Vieringhausen, Losenbüchel and Büchen are part of the Vieringhausen district . To the south is the Reinshagen district , to the north the Stadtpark district , to the west of Morsbach and to the east of Kremenholl . In Vieringhausen, 2710 inhabitants live on an area of ​​95 ha (as of December 31, 2006).

The Vieringhausen farm was first mentioned in writing in 1369 ( Vernichhusen or Verinchusen ). A Thydeke Verichusen appears in the Reval customs rolls in 1378 , who lived on the Vieringhausen farm and traded in iron goods. Vieringhausen bunker

At the intersection of Solinger Strasse and Vieringhausen there is a bunker that was built in the 1940s and served as protection from aerial bombs until the end of the war. From 1980 to March 2010 it was used as the clubhouse of the Marine-Kameradschaft Remscheid von 1895 e. V. ("Marika") used.

In front of the bunker there is a monument in the form of a large steel propeller. After extensive renovation work, the building is now inhabited and the "Vieringhauser Musik-Bunker" is located in the basement.

Vieringhausen station

Vieringhausen station was on the former Lennep – Hasten railway line . This was built in 1883, passenger traffic ceased in 1920 and freight traffic in 1988. After the line was dismantled in 1993–1996, it was reopened in 2006 as the tool's cycle and footpath .

The station area extended temporarily on both sides of the level crossing. In Vieringhausen, during the First World War and shortly afterwards, food and coal were reloaded onto the tram crossing here for onward transport to the city center.

The Alexander von Humboldt Realschule, the first Realschule in Remscheid, which was founded in 1941 as a " Middle School " and renamed around 1950 , is located in Grunerstraße, bordering on Rosenstraße to the rear .
