Kremenholl is a district in the south of Remscheid and belongs to the district of Alt-Remscheid . Kremenholl borders in the west on Vieringhausen and Reinshagen , in the east on Honsberg , in the south on Ehringhausen and in the north on Stachelhausen.

In the district there are a number of shops, manufacturers and craftsmen as well as a community elementary school and the cultural center " Denkerschmette ".

history

The place was first mentioned in 1369 as " Criemenholl ", the name probably being derived from the settlement of a Grimhard, Grimo or Grimwald , which was located in a hollow in the ground - popularly known as " Kri'emeln " in Bergisch . 1622 is written about the Kremenholler footbridge "Kri'emeler Stäg", a "Lobachsteg, which ran below the Kremenholler hammer on the way from Ehringhausen to Kremenholl".

Culture

The Kremenholl eV initiative group is active in the district. a. is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the tool 's route through the district in the north . In addition, the citizens' initiative has been awarding the Kremenholler Comedy Kleinkunstpreis every year since 2011 and organizing the local district festival.

The "Denkerschmette" cultural center is based in a former, traditional café at Kippdorfstrasse 27 and is looked after by a number of volunteers.
