Neuhückeswagen was an independent rural community in the Lennep district in the late 19th and early 20th centuries . The municipal area extended to the rural outskirts of today's city of Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ) and to the southeastern parts of the city of Remscheid in the administrative district of Düsseldorf .
Location and description
Neuhückeswagen was founded on January 10, 1861 as a merger of the Altbergian honors Berghausen , Große Honschaft , Herdingsfeld and Lüdorf and subordinated to the Lennep district as a rural community.
The four honors together previously formed the Hückeswagen external citizenship and from 1815 they were part of the Hückeswagen mayor's office , which in addition to external citizenship also included the core town of Hückeswagen.
The community encyclopedia for the province of Rhineland from 1887 gives a population of 5,630 for the rural community of Neu Hückeswagen (3,985 Protestant, 1,449 Catholic and 196 other Christian beliefs), who lived in 184 places with a total of 678 houses and 1,086 households. The area of the municipality was (5,832 ha ). The 1909 edition gives the rural community of Neuhückeswagen a population of 5,344 (3,712 Protestant, 1,418 Catholic, 213 other Christian beliefs and one Jewish belief), who lived in 652 houses and 1,041 households.

On February 15, 1920, the rural community of Neuhückeswagen was incorporated into the city of Hückeswagen and ceased to exist. As part of the communal area reforms in the 1970s, the area of the old Lüdorf district was split off from Hückeswagen in 1975 and incorporated into Remscheid.
