Großeichen is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and transport links

Großeichen is located in the southeast of Hückeswagen on the border with Wipperfürth. Neighboring places are Kleineichen , Mühlenberg , Hartkopsbever , Steinberg and Heide . The place is connected via a connecting road that branches off the district road K5 at Kleineichen and leads to the center of Wipperfürth.

In 1481 the place was mentioned for the first time in a list of donations for the Marien Altar of the Hückeswagen church. Spelling of the first mention: Eycken . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows a courtyard and designates this courtyard with Gr.eich .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 32 people lived in the village. In 1832, Großeichen belonged to the Berghauser Honschaft , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor, under the name of Großeneichen . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had five residential buildings and five agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 52 residents lived in the place, 32 Catholic and 20 Protestant faith.

In the parish dictionary for the Rhineland province , two houses with 20 inhabitants are given for 1885. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had two houses with 17 inhabitants, in 1905 one house and six inhabitants.
