Laake is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Laake is located in the extreme north of Hückeswagen directly on the city limits to Radevormwald , which surrounds Laake on two sides. Laake is only connected via Radevormwald roads.

Neighboring towns are Radevormwald- Vorm Holte , Radevormwald- Rädereichen , Radevormwald- Höltersiepen , Hagelsiepen and Marke . Since the city center of Radevormwald is much closer than that of Hückeswagen, the residents of the Hofschaft participate more in the economic and social life of Radevormwald than that of Hückeswagen.

The Wiebach flows west past the Hofschaft and at the same time forms the city boundary to Radevormwald to the south. The Höltersiepen flows into the Wiebach in the northwest of Laake.

In 1523 the place is mentioned for the first time in a list of residents of the city of Hückeswagen under the name "Laick". The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows the courtyard as im Locke . In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen .

In 1815/16 there were 24 residents in the village. In 1832 Laake belonged to the Herdingsfelder Honschaft , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had three residential buildings and three agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 29 residents lived in the village, five of them Catholic and 24 Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, two houses with 22 inhabitants are given. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had two houses with 13 inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and 14 inhabitants.
