Wefelsen is a village in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Wefelsen is located in the eastern Hückeswagen on the western bank of the Bevertalsperre . Neighboring towns are the Käfernberg , Kleinberghausen , Großberghausen , Mickenhagen , Busche and, across the dam, Höhe . When the dam was built, Fröhlenhausen , Rasselstein , Gillesbever and Rotterdam were lost .

At Wefelsen there are several campsites and boat docks on the banks of the Bevertalsperre. The place is on the district road K11, which ends here due to the Bevertalsperre.

history

In 1481 the place was mentioned for the first time in a list of donations for the Marien Altar of the Hückeswagen church. Spelling of the first mention: (Telman) Wefel . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows a courtyard and designates this courtyard with Wibelsen .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 there were 40 people living in the village. In 1832 Wefelsen belonged to the Berghauser Honschaft , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had four residential buildings and an agricultural building at that time. At that time, 18 residents lived in the place, all of them Catholic faith.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland , four houses with 25 inhabitants are given for 1885. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had four houses with 22 inhabitants, in 1905 four houses and 18 inhabitants.

When the Bevertalsperre was inaugurated in 1898, the dam was located near Wefelsen. When the dam was expanded to its present size in 1938, the dam wall was demolished.

Directly on the Beverufer in Wefelsen, the "European Academy for Biopsychosocial Health and Creativity Promotion" (EAG) has been located since 1982, a state-recognized, working educational academy to which participants from all parts of Europe come to Hückeswagen for psychosocial, clinical and natural therapy training.

In 2003, parts of the German film Sommersturm were shot in Wefelsen. Well-known German actors such as Robert Stadlober , Kostja Ullmann and Alicja Bachleda-Curus stayed at Wefelsen.
