Eichen is a current location and a former court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Eichen is located in the Brücke district . The place, which can no longer be perceived as an independent living space, is now completely built on by a retirement home.

Other neighboring towns are Schnabelsmühle , Fuhr , Aue , Bergerhof , Frohnhausen and Pixberg .

history

Eichen is shown as an independent farm in the Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715, as well as on the map of the Duchy of Berg by Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking from 1789. The place was on the Hückeswagen – Radevormwald section of a medieval military , trade and pilgrimage route , today's street Buschweg .

In the 18th century, Eichen became part of the expanding Brücke district and lost its independence. In the 1960s, a hospital was built on the old courtyard, which was converted into a retirement home in the 1990s.
