Großkatern is a village in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

Location and transport links

Großkatern is located in the southwestern Hückeswagen near Straßweg . Other neighboring towns are Kleinkatern , Wickesberg , Bochen and Purd . The place can be reached via a spur road from the district road K14 between Straßweg and Wickesberg, which also connects small cats.

Großkatern is located on the Purder Bach , which flows into the Große Dhünntalsperre after the confluence with the Große Dhünn brook . The place borders on the forest and recreation area Mul .

history

In 1481 the place was mentioned for the first time in the list of donations for the Marien Altar of the Hückeswagen church. Spelling of the first mention : Katerdaell .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 23 people lived in the village. In 1832, Großkatern belonged to the Great Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had five residential buildings and nine agricultural buildings at that time. At that time 30 people lived in the place, one Catholic and 29 Protestant faith.
