The place was first mentioned in a document in 1468 : A Claus von Wyehain is named in a "Confirmation of the Cologne Council for the Guild of Barbers ". The spelling of the first mention is thus Wyehain .
In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 there were 50 people living in the village. In 1832 Wiehagen belonged to the Great Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had 14 residential houses and 26 agricultural buildings at that time. At that time 118 inhabitants lived in the place, 24 catholic and 94 evangelical faith.

Location and transport links
Wiehagen is a larger district in the west of the Hückeswagen capital. The K3 district road runs through Wiehagen over its entire length. In the west of Wiehagen is the commercial and industrial area West 1 .
politics and society
Wiehagen has a mixed settlement and population structure. Residential developments with single-family houses characterize the western, northern and southern areas of the district, while the middle and eastern area is built on with multi-storey apartment buildings. Wiehagen is partly considered to be the social hotspot of the city of Hückeswagen. In order to improve the living environment, the housing cooperative GBS is planning to demolish further high-rise buildings which, according to their own statements, have "problematic rentability in terms of their location and building structure". The lack of a holistic concept for the development of the infrastructure is also lamented. In some areas, the residential value is rated as satisfactory by the residents, but at the same time they complain about the unsuitable development with high-rise buildings.
Two grocery stores ensure basic supplies. Two kindergartens and a community elementary school cover the educational facilities. Leisure activities take place in the nearby city center. Many young people in Wiehagen also use the leisure activities in the Scheideweg district , where, among other things, a tartan pitch can be used to play football or basketball. The Catholic parish of St. Katharina offers a senior citizens' club for senior citizens in the district.
Spiritual life takes place in the Catholic parish, among others. She runs a community center there, and the services are held in the Church of St. Catherine. In addition to the Catholic Church, the Protestant parish in Wiehagen is also represented with the Café Kiwie (Church on Wiehagen). Here there are regular leisure activities for children, young people and adults. Once a year, Scheideweg, at risk for those at risk, organizes the multi-day leisure campaign Wiehagen in Action . The aim is to create a regular offer in addition to Cafe Kiwie and a contact point on Brunnenweg.
