history

The place was probably mentioned in a document for the first time in 1443 . The document says: " The Cologne St. Apostelstift had rights / income to the Herweghe ", but the localization is uncertain because of places with the same name. The spelling of the first mention was to the Herweghe . In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen .

In 1815/16 there were 27 people living in the village. In 1832 Kormannshausen belonged to the Herdingsfelder Honschaft , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had a school (near Neuenherweg), five residential buildings and seven agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 43 residents lived in the village, two of them Catholic and 41 Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, five houses with 30 inhabitants are given. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had six houses with 34 inhabitants, in 1905 three houses and 23 inhabitants.

Herweg is located on the Hückeswagen – Radevormwald section of a medieval military , trade and pilgrimage route , today's federal road. The place name is derived from this Heerweg.
