Kleinkatern is located in the southwest of Hückeswagen near Straßweg . Other neighboring towns are Großkatern , Wickesberg , Bochen , Strasbourg and Purd . The place can be reached via a strait from the district road K14 between Straßweg and Wickesberg, which also connects big cats.

In 1832, Kleinkatern belonged to the Great Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor .
