Großenscheidt is located in western Hückeswagen in the source area of ​​the Sohlbach . Neighboring places are Grünenthal , Grünestrasse , Wegerhof , Kleinenscheidt , Hambüchen , Altenhof , Westhoferhöhe and Sohl . The village can be reached via a connecting road that branches off from the K5 district road near Kleinenscheidt and leads to the historic center of Hückeswagen.

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 there were 77 people living in the village. In 1832, Großenscheidt belonged under the name of Großenscheid to the Grand Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office .
