Hambüchen is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

Location and transport links

Hambüchen is located in the southern part of Hückeswagen on the outskirts of the approaching residential areas of the main town and can be reached via a connecting road that branches off from the K5 district road between Grünestraße and Altenholte , leads to the center of Hückeswagen and also connects Sohl and Knefelsberg .

The Hambüchener Siepen stream , a tributary of the Knefelsberg stream, has its source near Hambüchen .

Etymology and history

Hambüchen is a form of hornbeam . Other forms are Hagenbüchen or Hainbüchen , see also Hag .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 there were 25 people living in the village. In 1832, Hambüchen, under the name of Hagenbüchen, belonged to the Grand Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had four residential buildings and nine agricultural buildings at the time. At that time 74 residents lived in the place, 54 Catholic and 20 Protestant faith.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province , five houses with 26 inhabitants are given for 1885. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had four houses with 28 inhabitants, in 1905 four houses and 26 inhabitants.
