Straßweg is a village in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

Location and description

Straßweg is located in the south-western part of Hückeswagen.

The place consists of two separate settlements, which are connected by the state road L68. Neighboring towns are Kotthausen , Strasbourg , Wickesberg , Bochen , Dörpfelderhöhe , Kleinkatern and Großkatern . The district road  14 to Purd branches off in Straßweg.

The place lies on the watershed between the catchment area of ​​the Kleine Dhünn brook and that of the Purder brook , both of which flow into the Great Dhünntalsperre . The Straßweger Bach rises in the local area.

history

In 1481 the place was mentioned for the first time in a list of donations for the Marien Altar of the Hückeswagen church. Spelling of the first mention : zom Straitwege .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . 16 inhabitants lived in the village in 1815/16. In 1832, Straßweg belonged to the Great Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had three residential buildings and five agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 18 residents lived in the village, four of them Catholic and 14 of the Protestant faith.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province , eight houses with 44 residents are given for 1885. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had eight houses with 48 inhabitants, in 1905 eight houses and 49 inhabitants.
