Höhsiepen is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Höhsiepen is located in northeastern Hückeswagen on the K2 district road between Dörpmühle and Wiehagen . Neighboring towns are Busenbach , Engelshagen , Erlensterz , Wiehagen, Braßhagen and Ulemannssiepen .

South of Höhsiepen, the disused railway line between Remscheid - Bergisch Born and Marienheide ( Wippertalbahn ) crosses the K2 district road by means of a tunnel structure.

history

In 1731 the place was first mentioned in a document. The spelling of the first mention was Höhsiepen . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1715 shows the farm as Hohsiepen . In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen .

In 1815/16 seven people lived in the village. In 1832 Höhsiepen belonged to the Lüdorfer Honschaft , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had two residential buildings and four agricultural buildings at the time. At that time, twelve people lived in the place, five of them Catholic and seven Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, two houses with 18 inhabitants are given. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had two houses with 15 inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and 14 inhabitants.

The Bergische Eisenstrasse , an important historical trade route , ran through Höhsiepen . Traces of this trade route are protected as a ground monument not far from the court .
