history

The name Erlensterz is older than the living space , as this name was used to describe a large area of alder forest at this point. The residential area, on the other hand, does not appear on contemporary maps until the end of the 19th century, such as the 1893–95 edition of the official measuring table sheet of the topographic map 1: 25,000.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, a house with 13 inhabitants is given. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had a house with 16 inhabitants, in 1905 a house and twelve inhabitants.
