Röttgen is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

Location and transport links

Röttgen is located in the southwestern Hückeswagen on the edge of the forest and local recreation area Mul . Neighboring towns are Kleinenscheidt , Großenscheidt , Schneppenthal , Neuenholte , Altenholte and Grünestrasse . The Hofschaft can be reached via an access road that branches off from the K5 district road at Kleinenscheidt.

Röttgen is located in the headwaters of the numerous streams that feed the Purder Bach . One of the two wind turbines in the Hückeswagen urban area is located north of Röttgen.

In 1491 the place was mentioned for the first time in church accounts. Spelling of the first mention: Roetgen .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . Eight residents lived in the village in 1815/16. In 1832 Röttgen belonged under the name of Röttchen to the Great Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayorry . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had two residential buildings and five agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 14 residents lived in the place, six Catholic and eight Protestant faith.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province , three houses with 21 inhabitants are given for 1885. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had three houses with 14 inhabitants, in 1905 three houses and 15 inhabitants.
