The Bornefeld-Hückeswagen office was a judicial and administrative district in the Duchy of Berg .

history

The office was created in 1555 as a merger of the Altbergian offices of Bornefeld and Hückeswagen .

It consisted of the freedom Hückeswagen , the parish of the same name with the four honors Berghausen , Große Honschaft , Herdingsfeld and Lüdorf of the external citizenship Hückeswagen , the city of Lennep with the external citizenship Lennep , Fifteenhöfe , the parish Dabringhausen with the Oberhonschaft and the Niederhonschaft , the parish Dhünn , the parish Remscheid with the honors Remscheid , the parish Wermelskirchen with the three honors Oberhonschaft , Dorfhonschaft and Niederhonschaft .

House Nagelsgaul near Wipperfürth was the residence of the noble bailiffs from the von Nagel family for several generations . The seat of the judge was Hückeswagen Castle until 1812 . The seat of the bailiffs was Wermelskirchen.
