Engelshagen is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).
Location and description
Engelshagen is located in the northern Hückeswagen near the Wuppertalsperre . Neighboring towns are Hangberg , Steffenshagen , Ulemannssiepen and Höhsiepen .
The Hofschaft can be reached via an access road that branches off from the K2 district road between Dörpmühle and Wiehagen and also connects Hammerstein , Voßhagen and Dürhagen . The Höhsieperbach rises in Engelshagen and flows into the Wuppertalsperre. The Engelshagen fortified tower is a cultural monument .
history
In 1481 the place was mentioned for the first time in a list of donations for the Marien Altar of the Hückeswagen church. Spelling of the first mention: (Engel) im Haigen . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm as Vosshagen . In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen .
In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland in 1885 six houses with 54 inhabitants are given. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had six houses with 51 inhabitants, in 1905 six houses and 30 inhabitants.
