Oberburghof is a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

Location and transport links

Oberburghof is located in southern Hückeswagen on the border with Wipperfürth . Neighboring towns are Niederburghof , Großkatern , Kleinkatern , Wickesberg , Purd , Rautzenberg , Kaisersbusch and Vogelsholl . The place can be reached via a long access road, which branches off the district road K5 at Altenholte and which also connects Niederburghof. The village lies on the edge of the forest and recreation area Mul on the watershed between the Purder brook and the brook Große Dhünn .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1374 : The St. Ursulastift in Cologne has income, among other things, from " two Hove op me Broichove " in the parish of Hückeswagen. Spelling of the first mention : Broichove .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 28 people lived in the village. In 1832 Oberburghof belonged to the Grand Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had four residential buildings and six agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 33 residents lived in the place, 13 Catholic and 20 Protestant faith.
