The summer azalea ( Clarkia amoena , syn .: Godetia amoena ), also atlas flower , almond rose or Godetie , is a species of the Clarkia genus in the evening primrose family (Onagraceae). Some subspecies have been described.

features

The Clarkia Amoena is a one-year , herbaceous plant achieved the stature heights of 15 to 100 centimeters. The petals are 1.5 to 6 centimeters long, not nailed or hardly nailed, pink to lavender blue or rarely white and have a red spot near the center. The flower tube is 3 to 10 millimeters long.

The flowering period extends from June to September.

Occurrence

The summer azalea occurs in warm temperate western North America (especially in California) on dry slopes in coastal forest fringes.

use

The summer azalea is widely used as an ornamental plant for summer flower beds. It has been in culture since 1818 at the latest. There are numerous varieties.
