Claude Dehombreux

Claude Dehombreux (born October 14, 1939 in Ixelles , † October 31, 2010 in Brussels ) was a Belgian rower who took part in the Olympic Games three times.

Athletic career

The 1.90 m tall Claude Dehombreux from Royal Sport Nautique de Bruxelles won a total of 30 Belgian championship titles in singles and doubles .

At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 he was the only Belgian rower to take part. He was fifth and last in the run-up. In the repechage he finished fourth and retired more than six seconds behind third-placed Poland Zdzisław Bromek .

In 1971 Dehombreux rowed together with Albert Heyche at the European Championships in Copenhagen , the two Belgians took fifth place in the double scull . Dehombreux and Heyche also competed together at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. They reached third place in the preliminary run and second place in the repechage. After a fifth place in the semifinals, the two rowed to third place in the B final and thus finished ninth in the overall standings.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Dehombreux took on one more time. After a third place in the preliminary run and a fifth place in the semifinals, he finished in sixth place in the B final, twelfth place overall. After his active career, Claude Dehombreux was a trainer at Royal Sport Nautique de Bruxelles.
