Claude Michel (born April 24, 1971 in Carhaix-Plouguer ) is a former French football player and current coach .

Club career

Claude Michel played 385 league games for just one club, EA Guingamp, throughout his career . There he played since he was 15, from 1995 to 1998 and from 2000 to 2004 in Division 1 and Ligue 1 . With his club he won the 1996 UEFA Intertoto Cup and qualified for participation in the 1996/97 UEFA Cup . There, however, Guingamp was eliminated in the first round against the top Italian club Inter Milan . In the same season Michel was with his club in the final of the Coupe de France . There Guingamp lost on penalties against OGC Nice . Midfielder Claude Michel missed his penalty and Arjan Vermeulen was able to convert the crucial final penalty for Nice.
