Claude Renard

Claude Renard (born August 12, 1946 in Boussu ; † February 17, 2019 ) was a Belgian cartoonist and teacher.

Renard drew first comic short stories for Spirou magazine in the 1960s . After this time he came to the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels , where he was taught by Eddy Paape and became his assistant. Starting in 1976, Renard Paape's position as his successor.

For François Schuiten, he wrote the stories The Medians of Zymbiola ( Aux médianes de Cymbiola ) and The Gleis ( Le Rail ) from 1979 . From 1983 to 1986 he created two albums around Ivan Casablanca . All stories are published in Métal hurlant and as an album by Les Humanoïdes Associés , in German by Arboris . In 1984 he designed the costumes for the film Gwendoline with Schuiten .
