Claude Verlinde

Claude Verlinde (born June 24, 1927 in Paris ) is a French painter and printmaker of Flemish descent.

Life

Claude Verlinde began his training very early, at the age of less than 20. First he attended the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris and later the Académie de la Grande Chaumière . With his perfect old-master technique he is considered one of the masters of visionary and fantastic art . He counts artists like Hieronymus Bosch , Cranach , Francisco Goya and James Ensor among his role models . In 1980 he designed the large-format poster - depicting Pierrot - for the 17th Festival du Marais. In 1994 Verlinde took part in the major exhibition of symbolists and dreamers entitled Du fantastique au Visionnaire in Venice , which was organized by Ernst Fuchs , among others . In 2007 he illustrated the fables of Jean de La Fontaine in a limited edition .
