Claude VonStroke (* 7. July 1971 in Cleveland , Ohio as Barclay Crenshaw Macbride ) is an American Techno / House - Musicians and - DJ .

Life

Born in 1971, Barclay Macbride Crenshaw grew up first in his native Cleveland and later in Detroit .

In the 1980s, he first turned to hip hop . He attended the University of Rochester and later went to California , where he initially lived in Los Angeles and worked as a location manager and production assistant on various film productions.

He later moved back to Detroit, where he came into contact with the electronic music scene through friends like Marc Houle . From 2002 to 2003 he worked on the documentary Intellect: Techno House Progressive , for which he interviewed more than 50 well-known DJs, which also gave him a very intimate look at the DJ scene. In 2005 he created his pseudonym Claude VonStroke and released his first records on the label Dirty Bird Records, which he founded . His first single Deep Throat became an international club hit, which was later remixed by DJ Sneak and Sébastien Léger . The single The Whistler / Who's Afraid of Detroit? . In the same year his debut album Beware Of The Bird was released .

In 2007 VonStroke founded his second label Mothership Music . The second album Bird Brain , on which VonStroke collaborated with P-Funk bassist Bootsy Collins , among others , was released in 2009. In the same year VonStroke mixed an album from the renowned Fabric Live series (No. 49).

As a DJ he performed in clubs and festivals around the world.

He lives and works in San Francisco .
